‘expand and collapse’, explores the tension between depth and flatness, spatial illusion and surface tension on the picture plane though the geometrics of colour relationships.

Through the abstraction of three-dimensional drawings for spatial propositions, these references are deconstructed and reconstructed on the picture plane to form an ambiguous space and composition that falls between inside, outside, front, back, depth and flatness. Colour compositions oscillate between a sense of connectedness and harmony, and discordant vibrations. Forming both interior and exterior space through these relationships, my work creates a synchronicity between depth and flatness in an ongoing attempt to reorganise hierarchies both inside the frame and out.
